Today, I stumbled upon a delightful restaurant called Okso Ban, located in the Central Park Pru-Gio Apartment complex near Bucheon City Hall. Known for its signature dishes, Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu, this place is always bustling with customers. Intrigued by its charming exterior and the constant stream of visitors, I couldn’t resist trying Okso Ban. With its café-like interior and friendly staff, it was a delightful dining experience.

I decided to order their Skiyaki and Karaage dishes. The vegetables were fresh, and dipping the meat in the raw egg yolk added a delightful twist. I also appreciated the option for vegetable refills, and the fried rice served as a satisfying conclusion to the meal.

But wait, what is Sukiyaki? Sukiyaki is a hot pot dish where meat is cooked in a savory broth, similar to bulgogi marinade, and then dipped in raw egg yolk before eating. It offers a rich and savory flavor that is truly delightful. Shabu Shabu, on the other hand, is a dish where thinly sliced beef or pork and various vegetables such as sukju namul (mung bean sprouts), cheonggyeongchae (garland chrysanthemum), and mushrooms are briefly cooked in a flavorful broth and enjoyed with dipping sauces.

Both of these dishes are personal favorites of mine! With an abundance of nutritious vegetables and the method of cooking the ingredients in a boiling broth, they are less greasy and have a clean and comforting taste.

Eager to satisfy my craving for Sukiyaki, I visited Okso Ban for an early dinner. To my surprise, there was already a considerable wait! However, the wait was worth it. The meat and vegetables were incredibly fresh, and the staff skillfully seasoned and cooked each ingredient. The vegetable options were diverse and allowed for a rich and satisfying experience. The combination of Sukiyaki and dipping the ingredients in raw egg yolk was truly mouthwatering.

The restaurant offers a range of ingredients, from basic vegetables likeSukju (Mung bean sprouts), Cheonggyeongchae (Garland chrysanthemum), Baechu (Napa cabbage), Guun tofu (Grilled tofu), Saesongi beoseot (King oyster mushroom), Neutari beoseot (Enoki mushroom).

While the green chili peppers added a bit of spiciness, the beef was served separately on a beautiful plate. The friendly staff provided instructions on how to enjoy Skiyaki, making the experience even more enjoyable. They even prepared the kimchi fried rice right in front of us, wearing latex gloves for hygienic preparation.
